Our Story at Animal Emergency and Pet Care Clinic of the High Country
The Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country, PLLC was established by Dr. David Linzey and his wife, Debi, in 2005. Our goal has remained the same: providing quality after-hours emergency veterinary care to the residents of the North Carolina High Country and surrounding areas. Until that time, local veterinarians participated in a rotational schedule where different doctors were on-call various different nights and weekends. Owners never knew where they were going to have to take their pet and overnight observation and care was not an option. The nearest emergency facility was over an hour away. The opening of our practice provided a service to area pet owners not previously available: highly-trained and skilled veterinarians and technicians whose sole responsibility and focus was to provide emergency care for sick and injured pets until their regular veterinarian could take over care at the appropriate time.
Animal Emergency Becomes Full Time Veterinary Service
Our practice grew rapidly and within a short time we had accumulated a large collection of equipment, medication, and supplies that were unique to emergency hospitals and critical care situations. Soon, many of our emergency clients expressed an interest in having us provide regular healthcare for their pets as well as emergency care. In 2010, we expanded to include 24-hour emergency and critical care services as well as offering routine health care services during regular business hours and we became known as the Animal Emergency & Pet Care Clinic of the High Country, PLLC.
We were growing steadily and soon realized that in order to continue to provide the services we already offered, as well as those services we would like to add, we needed to move into a new facility. In 2011, we moved to our current location in a custom-built, state-of-the-art, LEED-certified facility.
Thanks to the support of our clients and their pets, we continue to grow and look forward to offering new services in the future that have been previously unavailable to area pet owners. Our goal is to be able to provide local pets with the same level of care available in more urban areas without the need to travel outside of the High Country region and to become the premier health care provider for pets in Boone, Banner Elk, Vilas and all of western North Carolina.
